DTF Pressing Instructions

Getting that perfect finish starts with the right press technique. Follow these simple steps to make sure your DTF transfers from Always DTF look vibrant, smooth, and long-lasting on every garment.

🧺 1. Pre-Press the Garment

Before applying your transfer, pre-press the shirt for 5–7 seconds at around 280–300°F with medium pressure.
This removes moisture, wrinkles, and any lint that could prevent the adhesive from bonding properly.

🎨 2. Position the Transfer

Place your DTF transfer face-down on the fabric (design side touching the garment).
Align and center your design — once heat hits the film, it will begin to bond quickly, so make sure it’s placed exactly where you want it.

🔥 3. Press Settings

Use the following settings for best results:

  • Temperature: 300 – 320°F (150 – 160°C)

  • Time: 10 – 15 seconds

  • Pressure: Medium (40–50 psi or firm hand press)

Pressing at too high a temperature or too long can flatten colors; too low or too short can cause edges to lift, so stick within this range.

❄️ 4. Peel Instructions

Let the sheet cool for 5–10 seconds — a warm or cold peel gives the best results.
Then peel the film slowly and smoothly from one corner at a low angle.
If you notice lifting, lay the film back down and repress for 3–5 seconds.

5. Second Press (Recommended)

After peeling, cover the design with parchment paper or a Teflon sheet and repress for 5–8 seconds.
This final step locks in the adhesive, enhances durability, and gives the print a softer hand feel.

👕 6. Wash & Care Tips

  • Wait 24 hours before washing.

  • Turn garments inside out.

  • Wash in cold water with mild detergent.

  • No bleach or fabric softener.

  • Tumble dry on low heat or hang dry.

With proper care, your DTF prints will last 50+ washes while staying bold and flexible.

💡 Pro Tips from Always DTF

  • For polyester or heat-sensitive fabrics, lower the temp to 285–295°F and increase press time slightly.

  • Pre-test one piece before running bulk orders.

  • Keep transfers stored in a cool, dry area to maintain quality.
